Dear young friends, Christ does not distance you from the world. He sends you out there where His light is missing, so you may bring it to others.

Dear friends, may no adversity paralyze you. Be afraid neither of the world, nor of the future, nor of your weakness. The Lord has allowed you to live in this moment of history so that, by your faith, his name will continue to resound throughout the world.

Being Christian is not a sort of uniform to wear in private or on particular occasions, but is something alive and all-encompassing, able to take up all that is good.

Pope Benedict XVI has been a champion of protecting the environment. In fact, he has been called the “green Pope” to signify his cogent teaching on the moral imperative of respect for God’s creation. However, the Holy Father has gone a step further. He reminds us that, just as there is an integrity in creation that must be safeguarded, and a “law of nature” that should be evident to us who might threaten it by our abuse, so is there an order innate in creatures, especially the highest one of all, the human person, that calls for reverence.
Archbishop Timothy Dolan (New York)

Today more than ever it is clear that respect for the environment cannot overlook recognition for the importance and inviolability of human beings, at every stage of life and in every condition. Respect for the human being and respect for nature are the same thing, they grow and find their just measure if we respect the Creator and His creation, both in the human creature and in nature.
